Birches are the trees of writers, for their papery bark that slowly escapes the trunk. They are resistant to environmental aggressions, often found near bodies of water, and can create the illusion of wintry white, no matter the season. Black is my favorite color, the color of choice for New Yorkers, deeper and more mysterious than any other.
My name is Hope, and I’m a musician, teacher, and writer based in Brooklyn, New York. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been inspired to document all the people, places, and things that make me happy, so I began Black Birches as my place to reflect. I believe joy comes from gratitude, and gratitude is contagious, so I hope my content helps you find your inner joy and thankfulness.
